Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Chef to join our public sector client on a temporary basis.

\n 📣 Role: Chef
\n 📍Location: Edinburgh East
\n 🕒Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week 
\n 💷Pay Rate: £13.95 per hour
\n 📅Duration: Temporary 6 months (with the possibility of permanent opportunity)
\n 🔑Start Date: Late August/Early September 2026

Please note: This role requires a PVG Certificate for Children, or both Children and Adults. The cost is £59 for a new application or £18 to update an existing certificate, payable by the successful applicant.

\n 💼 Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious evening meals each day
\n
• Prepare meals in advance for weekend service
\n
• Order food supplies and manage stock levels
\n
• Complete temperature checks and maintain food safety records
\n
• Carry out daily kitchen hygiene and compliance checks
\n
• Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and ready for each service
\n
• Cater for a range of dietary, cultural, and religious requirements

\n
• Have previous experience working as a Cook or Chef
\n
• Be reliable, organised, and able to work independently
\n
• Have a good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
\n
• Be confident managing stock and placing food orders
\n
• Have experience catering for a variety of dietary needs (desirable)
\n
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, a PVG for working with children.
\n
