\nTradewind Recruitment is seeking a patient, nurturing, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a wonderful child starting their primary school journey in Reception. This position is based at a welcoming primary school on the outskirts of Wigan, starting in September 2026.
\nTo ensure a smooth transition into school life, the child will initially start on a reduced timetable (mornings only). The role will naturally progress into full-time hours as the child settles and increases their time in the classroom. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a profound difference from day one of a child's educational journey.

\nA highly supportive EYFS team and an experienced SENDCO to guide you.
\nA warm, inclusive school community that values every child's individuality.
\nExcellent resources tailored to Early Years and sensory learning.
\nA clear, structured transition plan for the pupil to ensure your success in the role.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nProvide dedicated 1:1 support to a reception pupil with additional needs, helping them acclimatise to the school routine.
\nImplement personalised learning and behaviour plans as directed by the SENDCO and class teacher.
\nGuide the pupil through morning routines, phonics, and early years play-based learning.
\nWork closely with the class teacher to adapt activities, making the curriculum accessible and engaging.
\nMonitor progress and provide feedback to school staff and parents to support a smooth transition to full-time hours.
\nRequirements
\nLevel 2 teaching assistant qualification or above.
\nProven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within an Early Years (EYFS) or Key Stage 1 setting.
\nExperience with specific needs such as Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, or global developmental delay is highly desirable.
\nA calm, encouraging, and highly resilient nature.
\n\nFlexibility: Ability to work morning sessions initially, with the commitment to move to full-time hours as the timetable expands.
\nAn enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for a new one through Tradewind).
\nProfessional references
\nLegal right to work in the UK
