Finance Assistant\nLocation: Birmingham (Central)\nSalary: £28,000 – £31,000\nContract: 6 month FTC\nEssential: Unit 4 / Agresso experience is essential for this role\n\nFinance Assistant Job in Birmingham – Central Location\nWe are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join a busy finance team based in Central Birmingham. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in finance, accounts payable, purchase ledger, or sales ledger who is looking to develop their career in a stable and supportive environment.\n\nAbout the Role\nAs a Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations across purchase ledger, sales ledger, expenses, and banking processes. You will ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with internal procedures.\nThis is a varied and fast-paced finance role offering exposure across multiple areas of transactional finance.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Processing purchase invoices, purchase orders, staff expenses, and direct debits\n\n * Managing accounts payable processes and ensuring timely data entry\n\n * Processing sales ledger transactions including income and bank receipts\n\n * Performing supplier and customer statement reconciliations\n\n * Investigating and resolving finance queries\n\n * Processing manual and online payments, including international transfers\n\n * Supporting financial administration for overseas trips\n\n * Issuing payment confirmations and receipts to students/customers\n\n * Handling front-facing finance queries from staff and students\n\n * Supporting enrolment and general administrative tasks where required\n\n * Ensuring accurate data entry across finance systems\n\n * Maintaining compliance with GDPR and data protection standards\n\nAbout You\n\nTo succeed in this Finance Assistant role, you will have:\n\n * Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or transactional finance role\n\n * Strong knowledge of purchase ledger and/or sales ledger processes (desirable)\n\n * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry\n\n * Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Office applications\n\n * Good communication skills, both written and verbal\n\n * Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment\n\n * Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines\n\n * A proactive, team-focused approach\n\nQualifications\n\n * GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent experience in numeracy and literacy
