Purpose of the role
Ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of production machinery by delivering timely engineering support, minimising downtime, and contributing to efficient and safe manufacturing processes.
The day to day
\nTo adhere to the Camira Code of Conduct and comply with all relevant quality, environmental, health & safety, data protection, and corporate legislative requirements
\nCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on textile machinery, including:Tenters, Jet dyeing machines, Wool milling and dyeing machines.
\nTextile finishing and preparation equipment
\nDiagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
\nEnsure all machinery operates in line with manufacturing specifications and performance standards.
\nMaintain ancillary infrastructure and facilities such as steam, water, effluent, services and power.
\nAssist with installation, testing, and commissioning new equipment and upgrades.
\nSupport improvements to machinery efficiency, reliability, and energy performance.
\nConduct routine inspections and ensure equipment is safe and compliant.
\nWork in line with health and safety regulations across all departments.
\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
\nLiaise with production teams and other departments to support smooth operations.
\nAssist with continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean / efficiency projects).
\nSupport contractors and external engineers when required. Responsibilities and duties should be kept concise.
\nOther Considerations
\nMechanical and/or Electrical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
\n17th Edition Wiring Regulations and PAT Testing (desirable)
\nExperience with industrial machinery (textile machinery highly desirable)
\nStrong fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems
\nBasic knowledge of plumbing and utilities (advantageous)
\nAwareness of Health & Safety regulations
\nAbility to work at heights and in industrial environments
