Are you the kind of person who’s comfortable talking to people, whoever they are, in their homes? That’s great. Are you also curious and active – someone who loves to know how things work and who’d rather be outdoors than behind a desk? Even better. You could be exactly who we’re looking for.
As a trainee engineer with Openreach, you’ll play a big part in keeping the UK connected. Our world-class training programme will teach you how to install and fix phone and broadband connections, from traditional copper networks to cutting-edge fibre optic broadband cables.
Your days will be full of variety – you could be working in someone’s home in the morning and at the top of a pole in the afternoon. You’ll need to be great at working in a team and you’ll always have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re making people’s lives that little bit better.
There are also loads of benefits to being a trainee engineer with Openreach:
- Plenty of opportunities for paid overtime - on top of your 37.5-hour week - once you’ve got some experience under your belt
- Generous pension contributions as well as 22 days paid holiday a year – because everybody needs a break sometimes
- A choice of discounted products and services, including BT TV and broadband
And remember, this is a trainee engineer role. You don’t need to have any previous engineering experience – that’s where our top-notch training programme comes in. Your previous work history or background doesn’t matter. By the end of training, you’ll have all the experience you need to do the job. And once you’ve started, the sky’s the limit. Openreach offers clear paths to progress your career and supports you at every step of the way. Joining as trainee engineer could be the start of something really special.
If that sounds like it could be up your street, get in touch. Whatever your background or life experiences, we value having a diverse workforce that really reflects the communities we serve. We’d love to hear from you.
We don’t ask for any specific qualifications, but you’ll need to have a comfortable level of understanding in Maths and English. You’ll also need a full manual driving licence with no more than 6 points, and be comfortable working outdoors and at heights.
