Year 6 Teaching Assistant - Southwark - September 2026

Location: Southwark Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive primary school team on a fixed-term contract from September 2026 until December 2027.

\n

This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils during a key stage of their primary education as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. The successful candidate will work closely with the Year 6 teaching team to support learning, raise attainment and help pupils achieve their full potential.We are looking for someone who:

    \n
  • Has experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally within Upper Key Stage 2.
  • \n
  • Is passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
  • \n
  • Can work effectively with individuals, small groups and whole classes.
  • \n
  • Has strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • \n
  • Is able to support pupils in preparation for end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Is organised, proactive and able to work as part of a team.
  • \n
  • Has high expectations of pupil achievement, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • \n
\n

The role will include:

    \n
  • Supporting teaching and learning within the Year 6 classroom.
  • \n
  • Delivering targeted interventions and small-group support.
  • \n
  • Assisting pupils with literacy, numeracy and curriculum learning.
  • \n
  • Supporting pupils' confidence, independence and engagement.
  • \n
  • Preparing learning resources and classroom materials.
  • \n
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school staff to support pupil progress.
  • \n
  • Contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
  • \n
